Grant Guidelines and Application

the detailsGrant Guidelines

CHF will provide small grants to support nonprofit organizations and programs that promote youth development, specifically, programs that build the 40 Developmental Assets in Youth as established by the Search Institute (www.search-institute.org).

Developmental Assets represent the personal relationships, opportunities and qualities that help youth to thrive and protect them from harmful and unhealthy choices. Youth with assets are less likely to engage in alcohol and drug use, violence and sexual activity. The average young person experiences fewer than half of the 40 assets.

Research has shown that after-school programs can cultivate Developmental Assets in kids by: promoting a constructive use of time; reinforcing emotional health and physical well-being; building self-esteem and social competency; and fostering a commitment to learning.
